Q: What was the reason for founding your organization – what was the open niche you saw that could be addressed with a new product or service? What was the problem, or gap, or opportunity?

OMNI was founded to convert waste to a clean syngas. By diverting waste from landfill and producing a syngas for conversion into Hydrogen or Biofuels we are solving two issues with one solution. The biogenic portion in the waste stream diverted from landfill will avoid the creation of methane, and will be converted to a downstream product that will have a low or negative carbon intensity.

Q: Tell us about your organization. What do you do?

OMNI Conversion Technologies offers an integrated modularized OMNI200 Gasification & Plasma Refining System (GPRS) package that converts a wide variety of energetic wastes, including unsorted non-recyclable municipal solid waste to clean syngas with 100% diversion from landfill.

The OMNI200 GPRS unit is proven at industrial scale. It is a complete integrated system, delivered to site in large modules, rather than stick-built. It receives and converts at a rate of 200 tonnes per day (67,000 tonnes per year) a wide variety and mix of energetic wastes into a clean consistent syngas with a predictable heating value and composition. The H2/CO ratio can be tailored to the final application. Multiple units can be readily combined for larger plants.

Q: What do your technologies, products or services do and accomplish – how does it (they) work, who is it (they) aimed for?

The OMNI Gasification and Refining System converts a wide variety of minimally prepared waste to OMNISyngas and OMNIRock, with no discharge to landfill and no emissions to atmosphere during conversion.

Gasification is done in three stages using partial oxidation. The first stage uses a proprietary moving grate to dry, evaporate volatiles, and effect pyrolysis. The second stage uses a vertical updraft gasifier to gasify fixed carbon and melt the inorganic fraction. The 3rd stage drives temperatures up to the point where gas refining is done, cracking long-chain molecules using a minimal amount of energy to do plasma catalysis. Gasification and refining is followed by a tightly integrated suite of heat recovery and gas cleaning steps to produce a consistent, refined product compatible with intended end use.

Gasification, refining, and cleanup equipment is delivered in an integrated unit, along with engineering support to ensure successful commissioning, start up, and operation.
