Art fair pavilion imagines “healthier” future for architecture

In Denmark, a pavilion at the recent Chart Art Fair showcased the potential for natural materials in architecture. 

Dubbed A Music Box, the installation by Softspace Digital used gelatin-based bioplastic and larch wood and aims to be a space for performances as well as relaxation. Jute was also used to create a roof structure. 

The studio tells design publication dezeen that it hopes the use of natural materials points to a healthier future for architecture. “This pavilion articulates an idea of a healthier collaborative future where our built environment is shared by humans and other animals alike,” the designers say. 

The Chart Art Fair, now in its 10^th year, had a theme of bio-architecture. It ran August 26-28 in Copenhagen.
