Estonia extends biomethane for transport subsidy through June 2024

January 4, 2023 |

In Estonia, the Baltic Times newspaper reports the Estonian government has approved an extension on subsidies for biomethane production for transport through June 2024. With gas supply issues continuing to be a challenge for those countries who have traditionally purchased gas from Russia, the government wants to further promote domestic biomethane production to help shore up supplies and reduce risk. The original program was meant to end in 2023 but funds received from carbon trading has left money in the coffers, allowing the program’s extension.
