In Canada, Pond Biofuels is piloting a new CO2 absorption system at a cement plant that will allow it to produce algae from the facility’s smokestack. The trial at St. Mary’s Cement could lead to a market breakthrough as there are 10 cement factories in Ontario alone that produce 4,000 tons of CO2 per day.
The company expects the St. Mary’s pilot to scale up to a commercial scale facility.
