In France, the International Energy Agency expects the US to boost gasoline exports in 2014 in order to avoid having to buy RINs, thereby avoiding the blend wall. The IEA didn’t provide an estimate as to how much it expects gasoline exports to rise, other than noting that some refiners are betting positioned against rising RIN prices than others. Those who have to spend more on RIN purchase obligations, such as Valero, are those likely to export more.
