In South Dakota, POET and its employees are the largest political contributor from the state during this election cycle, passing more than half a million dollars in contributions two months ahead of the election, more than it spend during the entire 2012 election cycle of $501,583. Only contributions of over $200 are counted in the tally. Funds have gone to House and Senate candidates, the Republican National Party and Hillary Clinton’s campaign as well as several PACs.
