In Missouri, Green Plains has confirmed closure of the ethanol plants that it bought from Abengoa in Madison, Illinois; Mount Vernon, Indiana; and York, Nebraska, adding another 236 million gallons of annual production to the company’s portfolio for $237 million. The company then turned around and sold the storage capacity at the three facilities to Green Plains Partners for $90 million. The Madison and Mount Vernon facilities support Green Plains’ strategy to use a planned export terminal in Beaumont, Texas, thanks to their proximity to the Missouri River.
