In Southeast Asia, premiums for ISCC-certified palm oil-based biodiesel increased to between $15 and $30 per metric ton in 2016, up from the typical $5-$15/ton premium due to several major plantation discontinuing their ISCC-certified supply chains along with lower production resulting from negative El Niño impacts.
Exports to Europe fell significantly as lower diesel demand reduced the volume of biodiesel needed for blending along with high palm oil prices that dampened demand. Through November, exports reached 83,526 tons compared to 168,939 tons during the same period last year.
