In Japan, Sony displayed a bio-battery at the Eco-Products exhibition in Tokyo.  The battery used shredded paper or cardboard, dropped into a water based solution with specific enzymes that released sugar from the paper.  Additional enzymes and oxygen were used to develop current and hydrogen, along with gluconolactone.
