First ethanol plant in eastern Honduras opened

In Honduras, the first ethanol plant in the eastern part of the country has been inaugurated in Catacamas, in the department of Colancho, at the headquarters of the National Agricultural University. The facility was developed as part of a wider Organization of American States initiative with the support of Brazil and the US.

In Honduras, the Organization of American States (OAS) and the Government of the Republic of Honduras signed five cooperation agreements related to arms and drug trafficking, biofuels and the promotion of peace. The Government of Honduras and the OAS General Secretariat agreed to implement the “Pilot Project for Production and Use of Ethanol “.
