In Washington state, Matrix Genetics has received an undisclosed investment from venture capitalists Avista, allowing the company to spin out of its parent company Targeted Growth. The company is focused on cyanobacteria to produce biodiesel, much like Synthetic Genomics and Sapphire Energy.
