Toyota’s CTO states that Ireland could power the new Mirai for a full year, all from the manure of a single cow

October 30, 2019 |

In Ireland, the Irish Times reports that the Chief Technology Officer of Toyota stated that Ireland could power the new Mirai for a full year, all from the manure of a single cow. In a research publication commissioned by Hydrogen Mobility Ireland, the group claimed that methods such as these could allow for hydrogen to be in 35,000 vehicles by 2023. Given that transport accounts for about 20% of Ireland’s greenhouse gases, a hydrogen initiative of this scale completed at the pace mentioned in the Irish Times article would remove some 300,000 tonnes of CO2 every year.
