Australia’s Renewable Energy Agency will review options for a 10% hydrogen gas mixture in existing natural gas pipelines

In Australia, the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) announced $1.28 million in grant funding to the Australian Gas Networks in order to establish the Australian Hydrogen Center in Adelaide— which is in part supported by ENGIE. The center will investigate the blending of 10% hydrogen into existing natural gas pipelines in South Australia and Victoria, as well as to conduct a cost and benefits analysis for converting gas networks to take 100% hydrogen. The funding announcement was made by the Federal Minister for Energy and Emissions Reductions as well as the State Minister for Energy and Resources.
