Japan opens $189 million hydrogen production facility
In Japan, Asia.Nikkei reported that a $189 million hydrogen production facility, just north of the ruined Fukushima nuclear power plant, has officially been opened. The facility will serve as a proving ground for technology developed by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization. The solar-powered hydrogen generation station can produce enough gas to fill 560 fuel cell vehicles a day. The Prime Minister—along with Toshiba, Tohoku Electric Power, and the natural gas distributor Iwatani—attended the opening ceremony for this government-backed project.
