QUALITY CONTROL LEAD (CONSTRUCTION)

We are currently seeking a Quality Control Lead (Construction) to join our Project / Construction team in Prince George, and possibly continue on post-construction supporting the Operations team.

In consultation with the Construction Lead and the Project Manager, the QC Lead develops protocols, processes, and systems to support project quality objectives.

The QC Lead also supports the development and implementation of a Quality Control culture, integrating and engaging the entire project team to adopt a quality awareness and mindset.

Duties / Expectations

  • With a continuous improvement mindset, the QC Lead manages and maximizes project quality resources to effectively deliver quality (project?) objectives on time and on budget.
  • Develops, implements, and supports the achievement of quality specific KPI’s.
  • Provides QC leadership, representation, mentorship and direction to all project personnel and stakeholders.
  • Proactively identifies mitigation and corrective measures to avoid and correct any issues, tracking and improving on cost implications of quality related issues and defects.
  • Contributes to the development of Weld Procedure Specifications and other technical certifications.
  • Collaborates with Engineering, Operations, and other relevant teams to provide consistent quality controls and oversight.
  • Takes the lead on resolving all Non-conformance Reports (NCR’s) and Corrective Action Requests (CARs), with an emphasis on investigating root cause analysis, identifying trends, and driving improvements.
  • In collaboration with the team, develops the QC audit schedule and undertakes internal and external audits as indicated.
  • Provides QC input for Pre-Qualification Questionnaires (PQQ), Tenders, Bid Analysis and other documentation as required.

Education

  • Engineering degree (Mechanical, Civil, Structural) or graduate of a high level, applicable technical diploma program.
  • Journeyperson Welder and B Pressure Welding certification.
  • Assets include CSA 178.2 Certification, CWB Level II or industry equivalent and ISO 9001 Lead Auditor Certification.

Skills and Experience

  • 5 -10 years of experience (min 5 years at manager level) in a similar role in Oil and Gas construction.
  • In-depth knowledge of provincial safety regulations and demonstrated experience creating and influencing positive EHS protocols and outcomes.
  • In depth technical experience and knowledge in welding, including development and implementation of weld procedures including coating, painting and non-destructive testing (both radiography and ultrasonic).
  • In depth knowledge of ISO 9001 QMS requirements and associated codes (e.g., CSA, CWB, ISO, ASME, ANSI, API,
  • ASTM, AWS, NACE), standards and regulation as well as government regulatory bodies overseeing energy industry activities in Canada.
  • Ability to read and understand construction documentation (including drawings, specifications, procedures, and codes of practise); experience developing and establishing multi-disciplinary construction field quality plans and procedures.
