Kansas ethanol plant nears sale after 3-year mothballing

September 20, 2010 |

In Kansas, owners of the mothballed ethanol plant in Pratt are close to finalizing negotiations or the sale of the facility. The potential buyers are being kept quiet until the due diligence period ends and the deal is done, which is expected before the end of the year, but the owners have dismissed other parties who had shown interest in purchasing the plant.

The $100 million, 55 MGY facility was meant to open in 2007 but never operated commercially. Bankruptcy proceedings finally ended in July.
