SEAPOIL Philippines Inc. in talks to build sugar, ethanol and electricity plant

February 26, 2013 |

In the Philippines, SEAOIL Philippines Inc. is in talks to form a joint venture with sugarcane growers to build a factory to produce sugar, ethanol and electricity. The joint venture would provide sustainability for the sugarcane industry which will face tough competition from imports when the existing sugar tariff is reduced to five percent in 2015. The proposed sugar mill would have a capacity of 8-10,000 tons of cane per day, produce 140-200,000 liters of ethanol per day, and supply 10-15 megawatts of power to the national grid.
