Superior Oil awarded US patent for coin oil extraction and immediately files suit

March 2, 2015 |

In Indiana, Superior Oil was awarded a U.S. patent for its innovative approach to extracting corn oil from the ethanol production processes. Superior’s U.S. Patent No. 8,962,059 provides for improved techniques for maximizing the extraction of corn oil during post-fermentation operations.

Superior Oil also immediately commenced an action against Solenis LLC and Solenis L.P. to establish that Superior’s patented invention predates Solenis’s patent on this technology. The lawsuit, Superior Oil v. Solenis Technologies L.P., and Solenis, LLC 1:15-cv-00183-UNA, seeks judicial confirmation of Superior Oil’s earlier invention and the invalidation of the corresponding patent claims held by Solenis in U.S. Patent No. 8,841,469. Superior Oil expects to prevail in this lawsuit and establish that Superior Oil has the exclusive rights to license this technology.
