Philippines experimenting with scales to produce farm-based ethanol from nipa

In the Philippines, three ethanol plants using nipa sap as feedstock will be developed over the next three years to determine the appropriate scale for production. The product is native to the Infanta region that is home to extensive rice farming. The ethanol is expected to supply locally-produced fuel from farm machinery as well as rice processing.
