Abengoa’s Hugoton plant still a few weeks away from commercial production

March 10, 2015 |

In Kansas, commercial scale production at Abengoa’s Hugoton cellulosic ethanol plant is still a few weeks away despite commissioning having begun back in October but it’s getting closer. The company estimates that it needs about 320,000 tons of crop waste annually to supply the 25 million gallon plant but there should be more than 15 million tons of waste available in a 50 mile radius, ensuring that farmers can keep as much of the waste for soil health as required.
