Romanian locomotive designer testing B100 engines with good initial results

In Romania, Reloc – Electroputere VFU Craiova has introduced the first locomotive in the country to run on B100 or straight vegetable oil without need for additives. One of the main locomotive manufacturers in the country, it says that early tests indicate positive results with biodiesel providing as much power as fossil diesel and hope to soon roll out the new engines out commercially. Currently the company has about 2,000 of its diesel locomotives operating around the country.
