POET’s CEO says boost in global ethanol consumption needed to avoid agri crisis

June 22, 2016 |

In Wisconsin, POET’s CEO says a boost in ethanol consumption around the world is necessary to avoid a global agricultural crisis. Earlier this year, stagnant demand for ethanol led to higher production costs that translated to thin or negative margins for producers. Ensuring that demand increases over time will help to stabilize grain prices overall, not just for corn that is the dominant feedstock in the US, and will keep them from falling to levels that are unsustainable for farmers.
