In Iowa, Waterloo City Council has rejected Kwik Trip’s application to build a biodiesel and ethanol blending facility in a 6-1 vote. The plan was for four 30,000 tanks to start with that would eventually grow to 10 tanks, allowing trucks to deliver fuel components and take blended fuel out to supply the regional market, but neighbors opposed to project for environmental and safety reasons ranging from spills to fires. The mayor encouraged the company to work with local officials to find a more appropriate site for the blending facility.
