In Brazil, Platts expects the US to export 1.7 billion liters of ethanol to Brazil next year, down slightly from the 1.8 billion liters seen for this year, despite the new 20% import duty on imports above 600 million liters, as center-south mills won’t be able to boost supplies to the north-northeast as higher gasoline prices boost demand for ethanol. US ethanol could increase market share in Brazil’s north-northeast region to 40% from 30% this year.
