NuStar ethanol tank explosion provoking further county oversight

In California, NBC reports that following the major fire at NuStar’s ethanol tanks caused by an explosion that may have been the result of earthquakes earlier in the day is prompting the county supervisors to look at stronger oversight of petrochemical tank farms. There are six such tank farms in Contra Costa County where NuStar’s facility is located, which the former head of the U.S. Chemical Safety board says operate in a “regulatory black hole.”
