Financing Woes: Most Overlooked Biofuels Story, #1

July 27, 2010 |

Bioenergy financing stories, unless they featured large capital raises or other “good news,” were generally “dead on arrival” with Digest readers. Until last fall, that is.

Last September, the five-part series “Benjamins for Biofuels” gave an overview of the difficulties facing companies seeking bioenergy financing, but was more notable for the response (in parts 2-4) from readers, who shared tales of their financing ordeals, and run-arounds from government agencies as they sought incentives, subsidies and loan guarantees.

Their cautionary tales, still just a few months old, gave ample warning then, and valuable data today. that a financing crisis faces bioenergy that must be surmounted if the Renewable Fuel Standard is to be met.
