Jatoil to expand jatropha in Indonesia

In Indonesia, Jatoil (ASX:JAT) announced it will boost its initial jatropha land holdings in Central Java, Indonesia, by 50% as it moves into the second stage of a joint venture, planting 500 hectares of additional land with jatropha. The company said that nurseries will be established in coming weeks to grow seedlings that will be planted out during November.

Jatoil to expand jatropha in IndoThe second stage development of neighboring PT Jatoil Waterland, in which Jatoil holds a 70% shareholding, entails increasing the initial landholding from 1,000 hectares to 10,000 hectares. This stage is expected to be completed within the next 12 months, but it will be handled in phases. The PT Jatoil Waterland project is expected to eventually cover 100,000 hectares of jatropha.
