Gevo closes acquisition of Minnesota ethanol plant

October 12, 2010 |

In Minnesota, Gevo has closed its acquisition of renewable energy producer Agri-Energy’s ethanol production facility in Luverne. The 18 million gpy facility is already undergoing retrofitting so that the facility can begin producing biobutanol by the first quarter of 2011 but the facility will continue producing ethanol during the upgrade.

Meanwhile, Reuters is reporting “don’t expect [the recent AMyris IPO] to have any effect on fellow biomaterials IPO hopefuls Gevo and PetroAlgae or to give a lift to the lesser-known and struggling Butalco or Bioalgene.”
