Illinois biodiesel project expected to realize 29 percent return on equity

October 15, 2010 |

In Illinois, an independent review has confirmed the feasibility of a $38 million, 15 Mgy biodiesel project proposed by Bio-NRG for construction in LaHarpe. Frazier Barnes & Associates concluded that the project would show a 29 percent return on equity, well over the typical green-light threshold of 22 percent for a project to proceed.

The project would utilize 6 million bushels of soybeans from local farmers and create 30 local jobs on the 13-acre site. The project owners expect to commence construction in 2011.
