Iowa Power fund commences negotiations with DDCE for cellulosic ethanol grant

In Iowa, the Iowa Power Fund Board has voted to begin discussions with DuPont and Danisco for a $19.8 million grant to help the companies develop their next generation ethanol production facility that will use corncobs as feedstock. The project is likely to be sited in either Story or Webster Counties after a tussle with nearby Kearney, Nebraska where the state there had tried to lure the project across the border with an undisclosed amount of state money. The companies hope the grant deal will be finalized in January.
