E15 opposed by "vested interests" seeking to "perpetuate the status quo": Growth Energy

February 17, 2011 |

In Washington, Growth Energy went on the offensive against opponents of E15 ethanol and those blaming corn ethanol for the spike in world grain prices. The group released this summary of the cause of world price increases in grains,, stating “There are clear cost pressures from virtually everywhere, yet one commodity is taking the brunt of the criticism: corn. Why? Because corn is the low-hanging fruit when it comes to the commodity blame game.”

The group also released the following statement on E15 ethanol: “Efforts like these are exactly why our nation has been dependent on foreign oil for the last 40 years and will continue to be as long as the vested interests that seek to perpetuate the status quo pursue these strategies. E15 was decided on the facts and on data – not on politics – and there is no question that, as the only viable alternative to foreign oil we have today, increasing the amount of ethanol in our fuel supply will help create U.S. jobs, clean the environment, and strengthen our national security by reducing our dependence on foreign oil.”
