200 Mgy corn ethanol plant under development in Florida

March 8, 2011 |

In Florida, a group of unnamed investors are developing a $300 million, 200 million gallon per year ethanol plant in Gibsonton off of US 41 under the auspices of Sunshine Way Ethanol. Hillsborough county officials are working to help expedite the planning and permitting processes.

Twenty-seven South Florida farmers will switch from their current crops to growing corn that will then be shipped by Sunshine Way Trucking to the processing facility. All of the project’s ethanol production, as well as DDGS and CO2 production, are meant for intra-state use to offset current imports.
