High wheat prices forces Ensus ethanol shutdown

In the UK, Ensus’ wheat-based ethanol plant in Teeside will shut down for at least four months because of high wheat prices as well as slow implementation of the EU’s Renewable Energy Directive. November wheat futures in London are trading at a 15% discount to May. Farmers shouldn’t be directly affected because they are supplying Glencore Grain and not Ensus itself.
