Laurels: Honeywell’s UOP is the 15th ranked company in the 2010-11 50 Hottest Companies in Bioenergy poll. GlycosBio is currently unranked.

The match-up: UOP has been powering both thw aviation fuels sector with a series of partnerships with Solazyme, Sapphire and others, and also is a partner in Ensyn with a technology converting wastes and residues to fuels and chemicals. GlycosBio has discovered  metabolic pathways and biological processes around an abundant diversified set of feedstocks, like glycerin embedded within thin stillage or condensed syrup, from the ethanol industry, co-product streams from the oleochemicals industry, such as gums, or fatty acids. Its portfolio of microorganisms produce a variety of high-value chemicals.
