August 26, 2011 |

In Hawaii, Honeywell’s UOP is expected to break ground at its Kapolei biomass to transportation fuels demonstration plant next week.  The plant will be built an at existing Tesoro refinery, and was funded through a $25 million grant from the DOE.

Honeywell anticipates having the plant operational by the end of 2012, and running at full capacity in no later than 2014.  The purpose of the grant is to demonstrate the commercial value of integrating two commercially proven processes and conduct full life cycle analyses.
