Home-biodiesel maker fined for dumping wastes

In Louisiana, a backyard biodiesel maker has pleaded guilty to charges of illegally dumping wastes, glycerin and grease in the canal behind his home by the state’s department of environmental quality. He’s being forced to pay the $2,500 fine and reimburse the DEQ $2,700 for the expenses related to the investigation of the April 2010 incident. In addition to cleaning up his property, the defendant has been sentenced to three years probation.
