India’s RE ministry wants E5 policy made mandatory.

In India, the new and renewable energy ministry has asked the cabinet to approve a mandatory 5% ethanol blending policy that would overturn an economic advisory council’s recommendation that the policy remain optional. To avoid competition for limited ethanol supplies between fuel blenders and the chemical industry, the ministry has suggested the chemical industry sign long-term contracts for 5 million liters annually to ensure supply.
