MSU researchers boost corn stover energy recovery by 2000%

In Michigan, researchers at Michigan State University of developed a bioelectrochemical process using microbial electrolysis cells, or MEC’s, to produce ethanol from corn stover that boosts recoverable energy by 2000%, an amazing feat when existing technology can only extract about 3.5%-4.5% of the energy.
