California Energy Commission awards $5 million for waste-to-biofuel demo plant

October 10, 2012 |

In California, a commercial waste-to-biofuels demonstration facility is being funded by the California Energy Commission. Located at the Port of West Sacramento, the project is a joint venture between Sierra Energy Corp. and SacPort BioFuels, which will produce biodiesel from locally generated, non-recyclable waste. The $5 million investment grant will go towards the manufacture and installation of a compact, modular waste conversion system called the FastOx Pathfinder FT.
