Guardian Energy buys Heron Lake Bioenergy plant for $55 million

In Minnesota, Guardian Energy Heron Lake has bought the 60 million gallon per year former Heron Lake BioEnergy ethanol plant for $55 million. The facility, which came online in October 2007 and processes 21 million bushels of local corn annually, lost $3 million during the first nine months of 2012.
