Ethanol plants can survive the storm when there’s a strong, local DDGS market

In Nebraska, nearly a third of the state’s 24 ethanol plants have been idled due to high corn prices, including last Friday’s closure of the Ag Processing cooperative plant near Hastings, bringing the number to seven. The state’s ethanol board says that ethanol plants are better able to withstand the pinch on margins if there is a strong market nearby for their DDGS.
