Bashkortostan President Khamitov calls for support and establishment of biotechnology industry

In the Russian Federation, bashinform.ru reports that Rustem Khamitov, the President of The Republic of Bashkortostan stated:

“Today we have a number of enterprises, which work in the field of biotechnologies and issue biotechnological products. These are preparations for plants protection and land recultivation, biofertilizers, medical products for animal industries, fodder additives, and also waste utilisers. Among companies which are engaged in manufacturing of such products are LLC “Agromaster”, NVP “BashInkom”, “Biomedhim”, “Ecochimtech” and a number of other enterprises. They work quite successfully though there are problems, of course, which should be solved in common.”

Bashkortostan is a sovereign state within Russia, situated between the Volga River and the Urals; it has highly developed agricultural and chemical industries.

According to the article, Bashkortostan anticipates over 50 million rubles in funding from the Russian Federation for the express purpose of establishing a biotechnology center in Bashkortostan. President Khamitov that a number of additional steps are needed, including possible subsidies for the purchase of biotechnology products.
