Thailand to promote cassava for ethanol and bioplastics

In Thailand, both the energy and commerce industries are promoting cassava-based ethanol production as a means to keep the price floor from falling out under the crop. Part of the energy minister’s role is to manage cassava prices, while the prime minister asked him to develop a bioplastics policy that would include the development of the country’s first bioplastics facility.
