European ethanol seeing improved margins, for now

In Europe, ethanol plants are seeing better margins thanks to lower grain prices due to the US’s bumper corn crop weighing on CBOT markets. For now, European plants are coming back online and using more production capacity but that isn’t expected to last for long as ethanol prices in Rotterdam fall going into the winter.

A bumper crop in the US will also mean increased ethanol production there that could later seek homes in European markets, further weighing on European margins.
