In Canada, two hemp fibre plants are predicted to develop in Alberta this year, as farmers appear “highly receptive” to the idea of growing hemp for the plants, expected to be operational by 2015. Cylab International is still determining the location of their new $32m plant, which will process hemp fibre into construction materials and animal bedding with biofuel as a by-product. The other likely plant for Alberta is called Stemia, with construction beginning in April if all goes according to plan.
