Allied Atlantic Distillers commissions first cassava-based biofuel plant in Africa

In Nigeria, Allied Atlantic Distillers Limited have commissioned the first cassava-based biofuel plant in Africa. The feedstock has been proved as commercially viable and cost-competitive, but has not yet been implemented in Africa, despite the region’s dominance in cassava production. While capacity for the plant remains to be determined, the project is currently working with 8000 local farmers, providing indirect employment to more than 40,000 people.
