In Massachusetts, Northeast Biodiesel has been awarded a $540,000 grant from the state’s Dept. of Energy Resources, closing the funding gap on the $3.5 million biodiesel project after 10 years of development. The community-owned facility is now just short by $350,000 and may seek a bank loan to cover the rest. The facility will produce 1.75 million gallons of biodiesel until it scales up to 3.5 million gallons.
