EIA says installed ethanol production capacity down on year

In Washington, the EIA says that as of Jan. 1 this year, 187 ethanol plants were running across the country with a combined installed production capacity of 13.68 billion gallons, slightly down from Jan. 1, 2013’s 13.852 billion gallons. The Midwest region accounted for 167 of the ethanol plants with combined installed capacity of 12.5 billion gallons, down from 172 plants and nearly 12.6 billion gallons of capacity last year.
