India’s ethanol bus trial stalled due to passenger ticket pricing delays

November 5, 2014 |

In India, the ethanol bus trial in Nagpur has been delayed due to the Regional Transport Authority taking longer than expected to finalize the fare change for an air-conditioned city bus. Only Mumbai currently offers air-conditioned buses. The Scania ED95 bus was meant to run for three months, but the initial period runs out on Nov. 21 without the bus even having had the opportunity to circulate with paying passengers. Negotiations are ongoing to extend the date of the trial period.
