Philippines looking to supplement 1200MW power plant with biodiesel

January 1, 2015 |

In the Philippines, a proposal has been made to use biodiesel at the 1200MW Ilijan power plant during the scheduled downtime of the Malampaya natural-gas facility. Doing so is expected to reduce the production capacity of the 600MW units to 420MW each. In order to provide the biodiesel required during that month, the president may give a temporary dispensation to certain fuel retailers that they need not supply biodiesel during that period in order to ensure sufficient supplies.
